Is it a risk using just a link as a cover letter? Maybe.
Is it the type of thing that can stand out from the 100+ other applications that come through? Absolutely.
Standing out in a purposeful, intentional way is the framework for my approach to marketing, whether it’s career based or customer based. It’s about innovative ideas, executed creatively, and optimized effectively. Like I wrote in one of my recent articles, in marketing
“Pure creativity without testing wastes effort. Pure optimization without creativity makes everything bland.”
They complement not compete with each other.
So while this cover letter strategy is distinct, it is also intentional and designed with purpose. By driving to a landing page I am able to analyze traffic and other data that can provide insight and potential improvements to my application campaign and process that simply submitting docs into the void would not allow. An innovative idea, executed creatively, and optimized effectively.
Do I have significant local bank marketing experience and deeply refined communication skills with internal & external clients? Yes. I've led local marketing on Long Island for North Fork Bank, supported national-level Commercial, Small Business, and Consumer lines at Capital One, and developed the ability to move fluidly between strategic thinking and tactical execution through my agency experience at Proof Creative. But all of that can be gathered from a resume.
Once the core needs are thoroughly met, the real questions become:
Do they add value in a way I didn't even know I was looking for?
Do they make the team stronger?
Are they motivated by heart as well as mind?
I believe those are the non-resume benefits I bring to a team, and I'd welcome the chance to demonstrate them at Teachers Federal Credit Union.
Best,
